In August of 2012, I had an urging in my spirit. An urging that I could not fully describe. I felt as if my spirit had been pacing…quickly,
back and forth…constantly for weeks. Like when you have a deadline and you believe there is no way you will meet it. Or when you have an important decision that needs to be made immediately but you can’t quite decide.
Previously this urge
would not last long and was not always so strong as it was in August. In the past I would feel this urge in spurts. I would stop and pray, even if I did not know why I was praying or for whom. Then when I felt a release I would go back to my day.
But this day the urge was so strong it felt like panic. I could hardly keep my mind on driving to work. So I said out loud: “Jesus, please join me here in my car.” And He did, of course. He said to me in gentle whispers:
I am your Lord!
Do you not know this?
Do you not feel this?
Do you not believe this?
Drop your burdens
at my feet.
Empty yourself of them!
And follow me.
J .u .s .t ….... follow me.
Don’t I surely know Him better than to think He will not take care
of me? Can I not feel Him in my life? Don’t I believe He is as He says He is - faithful, true, everlasting; my provider, counselor, defender? And all I have to do is empty myself of my deadlines, decisions, worries, stress, and everything else.
All I have to do is follow……
Father, open our eyes to all You are to us. Help us understand what all You offer and walk in that love. Keep our ears open to all You have to say to us. Help us to always stop to listen and obey.
JOHN 21:22 Jesus replied, ...You follow me. (Living Bible)
Have you ever, and I know you have, been sitting at your desk and hear someone coming down the
hall talking with a friend of yours, but you don’t recognize the other person’s voice? You listen for a while but can’t decide who is talking or what they are saying. You aren’t even sure what the conversation is about. Strain
as you may, you can't decide who that person is.
It’s the same with the voice of God. His voice is unfamiliar to us when we do not spend time with Him and learn His voice. How can we assume we will know it is Him when He speaks to us if we never
listen to Him? How are we going to recognize His voice? How can we understand what He tells us? How can we know where He is leading us?
The voice of God is powerful.
Be the person who hears God walking down the hall and knows it is Him. And knows
what He is saying. It will change your life.
Father, make us understand we must spend time with You to know You better and recognize Your voice. Oh, for the day we recognize Your footsteps.
10:27 "My sheep recognize my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (LB)

So amazing that He speaks to us! An insightful way to encourage us to know His voice.
One night, in the middle of the night -midnight-, God woke me up to pray for my son who was at work. I remember being very concerned but obviously did not know what could be wrong. He was only 15. What could
be going on with him? Was he in danger, in trouble at work, was he hurt, had he just lost his job?
I was awake instantly. I began to pray. I prayed and prayed with as much energy as if it had been noon. He was so dedicated to
his job. I'm sure it wasn't exactly a pleasant job, but he went to work as if it was. I was so proud of him.
I began to pray in the spirit since I had no idea what could possibly be wrong. I'm not sure how long I prayed. I guess
about an hour. Then I felt everything was ok with him and shortly afterward I heard him come in. I waited a while in the dark for him to come into my room to report on whatever had been going on. But he didn't and since he didn't I knew he
was ok and I went back to sleep.
The next day he told me he almost lost his arm last night at work. His sleeve had gotten pulled into a machine and the machine was pulling his whole arm in further and further. At the last possible moment another
employee was able to stop the machine.
I say Praise God!!!
Listen, even if you have no idea what might be going on, if God tells you to pray - you PRAY! It's not even necessary to know who to pray for. God knows who.
JUST IN TIME
One night, again, God woke me up to pray for my other son. Again, I had no idea what was wrong.
I prayed for about an hour, fervently. I say fervently because when you have no idea what is going on it could be anything, right? It could be the most dangerous situation my son has ever faced. Add the fact that God Himself woke me
up and told me to pray ....
And it was his most dangerous situation yet. He had taken a wrong turn in town and found himself in a very, very bad part of town. It was the absolute worst part of Baton Rouge. he was driving
around trying to find a street he recognized when his car died on him. This made him a bit nervous as it would you and me. He tried to start the car several times. Nothing. Then he noticed 4 guys walking toward him from down the road.
They had bats and sticks. They were clapping their bats against their palms in a menacing way. The closer they came the more my son understood they meant to harm him, or kill him. he told me later his eyes teared up from fear. Then
he tried once again to start the car and it ... started.
Needess to say, he came straight home. It was several weeks before he decided to tell me about that night. he didn't want me to worry. I told him I was praying
for him that night and told him what happened. He thanks me over and over.
Please understand that I am not saying that when I pray, things happen. i am saying that when any one of us pray, things happen.

Father, open our hearts to Your ways. Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit to pray for things we do not understand.
8:26 "And in the same way, by our faith, the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how to pray as we should; but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot
be expressed in words.
