THE FIRST TIME I SAW HER
The first time I saw her, chills ran up and down my spine.
I swirled my back to her, hoping my thoughts would leave her behind.
But she had looked so hopeless, so desperate; I couldn't shake her from my mind.
She was just standing there; skinny, tattered, silently standing in time.
I watched her live mechanically, like a puppet on a string.
No smiling or laughing or happiness; she never said much of anything.
I believe she thought no one could help, although I saw her ask more than once or twice.
She went to friends, to strangers; but these people all had the wrong advise.
Then something happened that abolished all hope; she was at the end now...
I could tell it - I could feel it; I had to help her, but how?
She had long lost faith in every man; she had come to expect nothing from no one.
But now she couldn't even believe in herself, she couldn't hold on and had nowhere to run.
She decided to give God another try, as this was indeed her darkest hour.
She had nothing to loose, maybe nothing to gain; when Jesus showed her His power.
When she asked Him to forgive her and help her, He came to her in
a brilliant new light.
He took away her defeat and death, He healed her blindness and gave her sight.
He has changed her life completely. Love,
hope, joy, surround her, I'm sure she'd concur.
I can tell it - I can feel...I am her.
Father, thank you for loving me in spite of my many sins.
I Corinthians 1:8 I know very well how foolish it sounds to those who are lost, when they hear that Jesus died to save them. But we who are saved recognize this message as the very power of God."
