REMNANTS OF YOU
As I settle down to relax from an especially trying day at the office,
I search my heart for remnants of You.
What I find is me.
I find all my
shortcomings, breaches, broken promises, procrastination, blindness, attitude, selfishness, sin.
Anger has unmercifully driven You from a room in my heart
while resentment has banished You from another room.
Impatience has taken over yet another room - pushing You out.
Refusal to forgive
has taken all the space in another.
Yet, I continue to search for You; any part of You.
I long for Your presence. I seek Your face.
I need Your touch.
As always, You reveal Yourself. You never abandon us.
The longer I search for You, the more remnants
The more remnants I find, the more I realize You never left me.
This realization opens those old doors to evict anger, resentment, impatience.
Once again, You fill my heart and I find joy, mercy, grace, forgiveness, love.
My heart overflows with You again.
us the courage to examine ourselves. To see ourselves as You see us. Not only see the great love You have for us but also the mercy You so generously gift to us. Help us examine our hearts. Doing so will enable us to find You...You
who were always there.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Check up on yourselves. Are you really Christians? Do you pass the test? Do you feel Christ's presence and power more and
more within you? Or are you just pretending to be Christians when actually you aren't at all? (LB)
